This policy describes what data the site langandtrip.com.ua collects, what we use it for, whom we share it with and what you can do with it. Throughout this text we refer to the site as the "Site" and to ourselves as the "Editorial team".

By using the Site, you agree to the terms of this policy. If you do not agree with it, do not use the Site and do not leave us your data.

What data we receive

Data you provide yourself

  • email address, if you subscribe to new materials;
  • name, email address and the content of your message, if you write to us yourself: with a question, a topic suggestion, a complaint or a report of an error in a material.

The Site has a minimum of required fields: to receive emails about new articles, your email address is enough. We ask for your name only where it is otherwise inconvenient to respond to an inquiry.

Data collected automatically

Like any website, langandtrip.com.ua receives technical information about your visit:

  • the IP address and the approximate region from which the Site was opened;
  • the type of device, browser and operating system;
  • the pages you opened, the time spent on them and the source of the visit to the Site (search, social network, external link);
  • data from cookie files, which have a separate section below.

We see this data in aggregated form, as visit statistics, rather than as the history of a specific person.

What we use this data for

  • to send emails about new materials to those who have subscribed to them;
  • to respond to your inquiries;
  • to understand which topics are read and which are not, in order to plan new materials;
  • to spot technical problems: pages that load slowly or work poorly on certain devices;
  • to protect the Site from spam, automated data collection and excessive load.

We do not use your data for automated decision-making about you and we do not build personal profiles of readers.

The legal basis on which we process data

  • your consent: subscription to materials, as well as optional cookies;
  • our legitimate interest: basic visit analytics, the technical stability and security of the Site;
  • fulfilling your request: when you have written to us and are awaiting a reply.

Cookie files

Cookies are small files that the browser stores during a visit to a website. We use:

  • necessary: without them the Site does not work correctly; they do not require consent;
  • analytical: they show aggregated visit statistics, the most popular materials, sources of visits;
  • third-party service cookies: these appear if a material has an embedded video, map or social media post. Such files are set by the relevant service under its own rules.

You can manage cookies in your browser settings: block them, delete existing ones, or set exceptions for individual sites. If you disable some cookies, certain elements of the Site may work less well.

Third-party services

To run the Site we use external services, and some technical data reaches them:

  • web analytics services: receive aggregated data about visits;
  • email newsletter service: receives subscribers' email addresses in order to deliver emails;
  • hosting provider: technically stores the Site's data;
  • embedded elements: video, maps, social media posts, if they are present in a material.

Each such service processes data under its own privacy policy. We limit the list of data we pass to them to what is needed to run the Site.

We do not sell your data and do not pass it to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may disclose information at the request of government authorities only in cases directly provided for by law.

Transfer of data outside Ukraine

Analytics, newsletter and hosting services may host their servers outside Ukraine. When choosing such services, we favor those that declare compliance with personal data protection requirements, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

How long we store data

  • a subscriber's address: for as long as you are subscribed, and for up to 30 days after unsubscribing, in order to properly complete the technical processing;
  • correspondence about inquiries: for up to 12 months after the reply, to have context if the topic continues;
  • aggregated visit statistics: in depersonalized form, without linking to a specific person.

Your rights

Regarding your data, you can:

  • find out exactly what data about you we hold;
  • correct inaccurate data;
  • request the deletion of data;
  • withdraw consent to the newsletter;
  • object to processing in the part that relies on our legitimate interest;
  • obtain a copy of your data in an easy-to-read form.

To exercise any of these rights, write to info@langandtrip.com.ua. We respond to such inquiries within 30 days. If we decline, the reply will include the reason.

Data protection

The Site works over a secure connection (HTTPS), access to the Site's internal part is restricted, and we deliberately keep the list of data we collect at all to a minimum: the less data collected, the less can be lost. At the same time, no system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the full safety of data transmission over the internet.

Underage readers

The Site's materials are intended for an adult audience. We do not knowingly collect data from persons under 16 and do not offer them a subscription. If you are a parent or guardian and have learned that a child has left us their data, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to the policy

The policy may be updated if the set of services we use changes or if legal requirements change. The current version is always on this page, and the date of the last update appears at the end of the document. We will notify subscribers by email about significant changes that affect them.
