The sheer scale of some of the massive developments built on land reclaimed from the sea, especially the Palm and the World, can only truly be appreciated from the air. Seawings takes passengers up in a seaplane from Dubai Creek and out over the city, showing off its most iconic buildings and landmarks, including the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. Other flight options include a hop over to Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, where the world's fastest roller coaster awaits anyone who was wise enough to skip a heavy lunch. Just $800 buys you three VIP hours with one of the Dubai Mall's personal shoppers, but to really hit your bank manager where it hurts, you'll want to visit one of its 62 jewelry and watch specialists. ## 4. Dining for the Super-Rich Dubai is also a global culinary destination with few rivals, its restaurant scene a match for the world's finest. Celebrity chefs are everywhere, and venues outdo one another at the very highest levels. The city has served up its share of questionable culinary novelties, including a $1,000 cupcake and an $800 ice cream sundae. For the world's highest dinner, At.mosphere in the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building on the planet, serves a full a la carte menu 410 meters above the city, for lunch or dinner. Thirty grams of Oscietre caviar will set you back just $210, though it apparently must be paired with a bottle of 2000 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, La Tache Grand Cru, Cote de Nuit, at $18,000 a pop. ## 5. Your Very Own Theme Park There's hardly a better way to cool off in a desert city than at Aquaventure, the city's enormous water park at the aptly named Atlantis. Spread across 17 hectares, it was designed so you never have to leave the water, tackling rides that include the 27-meter Leap of Faith, a near-vertical drop that shoots you through a shark-infested lagoon. Best of all, wealthy visitors can skip the lines entirely and earn serious bragging rights by renting out the whole place for an evening splash. The bill for that: $40,000 for two hours.
